Testing Information

Beyond the ACT and the SAT, Forest Lake Academy offers testing programs to each grade level:

Freshmen
EXPLORE
assesses academic progress, provides an early indicator of college readiness, helps you understand and begin to explore the wide range of career options and assists you in developing a high school coursework plan that prepares you to achieve your post-high school goals. PLAN includes four multiple-choice tests: English, Math, Reading, and Science. You may bring a calculator for the Math section. It should be a simple 4-function calculator, no TI-89 or TI-92.
More detailed information can be found here.

Sophomores
PLAN is a great way to prepare for the ACT. It covers the same subjects and gives you an estimated ACT score. PLAN lets you know if you’re on track for college, points out your academic strengths and areas you need to improve and helps you find careers that match your interests. PLAN includes four multiple-choice tests: English, Math, Reading, and Science. You may bring a calculator for the Math section. It should be a simple 4-function calculator, no TI-89 or TI-92. For more information and a sample test, please visit this link.
More detailed information can be found here.

Juniors
The PSAT/NMSQT is the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test that measures critical thinking skills that are important for success in college, including critical reading, math problem-solving and writing skills. Taking the PSAT/NMSQT enables students to prepare for the SAT reasoning test, initiate the college-planning process, get feedback about important academic skills, seek information about important academic skills and enter scholarship competitions.
More detailed information about the PSAT can be found here.
More detailed information about the SAT and ACT, including tutoring opportunities, can be found here.
