The Freshman class is going to have a Lock-in on November 10-11 in the FLA Gym. This is a great activity to draw the class together and to fellowship and have fun. The cost will be $5.00 per student. They need to have parent volunteers to chaperone on a rotating supervision schedule. Please contact Michael Myers at MyersM@forestlake.org or call him at the school, 407-862-8411. Or you may contact Felicia Ward at TheWardBears@earthlink.net or at her home, 407-521-0211. 24/7 Prayer Room, November 2-10, 2007
“Then if my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and heal their land. I will listen to every prayer made in this place, for I have chosen this Temple and set it apart to be my home forever. My eyes and my heart will always be here.” (2 Chronicles 7:14-16, NLT)
A 24/7 Prayer Room is returning to the Green Room at Forest Lake Academy November 2-10 with original art work, rich symbolic interactive prayer stations and space to meditate and relax. We invite you to be a part of this delightful experience, to immerse yourself in God's presence and to intercede.
The Prayer Room will be open on Friday (Nov. 2) at 2:00 pm until Sunday (Nov. 4) at 7:00 pm., Monday – Wednesday (Nov. 5-7) from 6:00 am until 7:00 pm, and from Thursday (Nov. 8) at 6:00 am until Saturday (Nov. 10) at 5:00 pmBecome a Prayer Guardian by signing up for a one-hour slot (or several) at www.mysignup.com/flaprayer.
Imagine slipping off your shoes and walking into a tranquil space, music playing and smelling the gentle fragrance of vanilla. The sound of a waterfall is faintly bubbling and you sit down at a small tale and relax. For a moment you stop and think --"Am I taking enough time to sit and contemplate life" or even "am I taking enough time out just to gather my thoughts?" You pause for a moment to consider "Do I take time out to pray? To listen ... or to hear God?" You write down a few thoughts into the journal resting on the table. You look around you --the room is full of interactive payer stations and you choose to move over to the Wailing Wall. You look up and read some poetry, a picture prayer in crayola, a desperate plea, a thank you ... The richness of people's inner lives displayed for inspiration and empathy. You pick up a pen and start to write what flows from your heart. It is good to get it out. At the end of an hour you haven't yet visted all the stations. You step out of the prayer room and into another world. You feel rejuvenated. "I'm coming back again" you whisper as you sign in for another hour the next evening. "The prayer room is the perfect place for anyone who is not good at prayer; for new believers, for those who are afraid that they will not know what to do when they get there, for those who feel unworthy to go into God's presence." It is a great place for you to come and hang out with God for an hour and see what might develop!!To Sign Up: www.mysignup.com/flaprayerInformation on the 24/7 Prayer Movement: www.24-7prayer.com (they have a great newsletter that you can sign up for)Recommended Reading: "Red Moon Rising" by Pete Greig & Dave Roberts. Reminder about the School Entrance:
Due to safety concerns with the dorm construction project, effective immediately the entrance to our campus by the dorm construction will be closed during work times - roughly 6:00 am until 4:00 pm. Please plan to enter and leave the campus at the stop light or through the parking lot of the Forest Lake Church. This will remain in effect until the construction project is completed.
Fundraising:
The Parents' Organization has several ways to raise money to support the programs on campus. The first is through using your Target Visa and designating Forest Lake Academy as your school to receive a percentage of every purchase you make with the card. Go on line to Target.com to enroll. This is a great way to give to the school. The second way is to sign up for Good Search which is a search engine like Google. Every time you use Good Search to look up something on the internet, a few pennies get donated to the school. Good Shop is another source fundraising. Every time you shop through Good Shop on line, a percentage is given to the school. These are places you are already shopping at. Give these a try and help us raise money to support the school.
Check out the Parent Organization Web page on the Academy Web site. It is a work in progress so keep checking to see updates.
