School Day Testing: SAT/PSAT & Boot Camp

FRESHMEN - MATH BOOT CAMP

Freshmen will participate in a Math Boot Camp designed to assess their strengths and weaknesses and create personalized plans for growth in math skills. Students are encouraged to take the testing seriously, as it plays a key role in academic development and future opportunities.

SOPHOMORE & JUNIOR - PSAT / NMSQT

The Practice Scholastic Achievement Test (PSAT) / National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (NMSQT) will be given to sophomores and juniors. This test is used by scholarship programs, including the National Merit Scholarship Program, to look for eligible students. The test will be given to Sophomores & Juniors on October 27, 2026. It will be a half-day. No need to register, students will be registered automatically. PSAT/NMSQT testing fee included in tuition.

SENIOR - SAT

All Seniors will take the SAT together during a school day. The test will be on October 27, 2026. Students will be automatically registered for this special FLA SAT School Day, no need to register with the College Board. Seniors will be charged the $68 testing fee in their financial account unless they qualify for a fee waiver.

MAP TESTING

We are partnering with the Florida Conference of SDA in their new standardized testing initiative, the Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) Test. FLA students in grades 9-11 will take the MAP test in the following dates:

Fall - August 25, 2026

Winter - January 19, 2027

Spring - April 20, 2027

Classroom teachers will proctor the MAP tests to determine your student's instructional level and measure academic growth throughout the school year, and from year to year in the areas of English & Math. Students will be tested in their classrooms by their own English & Math teachers during their corresponding class periods using their IPADs.

MAP tests are computer adaptive - they adjust to the appropriate level of your child's learning. As a result, each student has the same opportunity to succeed and maintain a positive attitude toward testing. Using the MAP test, we can administer shorter tests and use less class time while still receiving detailed, accurate information about your student's academic growth. You will receive a report of your student's progress after the battery of three tests has been completed.

We are truly excited to begin a new era that focuses on every student's individual growth and achievement.
