MAP Testing
We are partnering with the Florida Conference of Seventh-day Adventists in their standardized testing, Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) Test.
Test scores are required to maintain Step-Up scholarship eligibility. Please ensure your student participates in testing. If your student is absent on the scheduled test day, a make-up session will be offered, and details will be shared during the week of testing.
Testing takes place three times a year during the school day:
MAP (Measures of Academic Progress) testing is a computer-based assessment that helps measure a student’s academic growth over time in subjects like reading, math, language usage, and sometimes science.
Unlike a traditional test, MAP is adaptive, meaning:
- Questions adjust in difficulty based on how a student answers
- If a student answers correctly, questions get harder
- If a student answers incorrectly, questions get easier
This helps give teachers a clear picture of:
- What students already understand
- What they are ready to learn next
Important to know:
- It is not a pass/fail test
- It is designed to track growth, not just grade-level performance
How to Come Prepared on Test Day
Here are simple, student-friendly tips to help students do their best:
✅ Before Testing
- Get a good night’s sleep
- Eat a healthy breakfast
- Arrive early (7:45am) to ensure you are seated and ready on time.
(These are general best practices for helping students perform at their best.)
✅ During the Test
- Take your time — the test is not timed
- Read each question carefully before answering
- Do your best, even if questions feel hard (that’s normal with MAP!)
- Try to eliminate wrong answers if you’re unsure
- Remember: you cannot go back after moving to the next question
✅ Mindset Tips
- It’s okay not to know every answer—MAP is designed that way
- Focus on showing what you know—not being perfect
- Stay calm and give your best effort
