Forest Lake Academy is a private Christian college preparatory high school that has been providing quality Christian education to the greater Orlando area since 1918. The school is operated by the Seventh-day Adventist Church which operates one of the largest and oldest K-12 parochial school networks in the world—having over 9,500 educational institutions operating in over 215 countries around the world with over 2 million students worldwide.

Faith is at the core of everything we do, and the Bible is central to our Adventist beliefs and practice. We believe we serve a loving God who is concerned with the quality of human life and with the way we live, eat, speak, treat each other, and care for the world around us. Our families, our children, our jobs, our talents, our money, and our time are all important to Him. Our faith community seeks to make a positive impact in the world and to be a safe place for healing and growth. Church membership is our way of affirming that being part of a faith community that shares a love for God and one another is beneficial to our well-being.

The importance of living a healthy lifestyle is a key tenant and teaching of the church including a combination of exercise, diet, and relationship with God. As such, Adventists are often vegetarian, and do not smoke or drink alcohol. It is also why the Church is well known for its numerous health care institutions around the world, including AdventHealth.

The worldwide Adventist church has over 20 million members in more than 215 countries. In addition to its educational institutions, the church operates 198 hospitals worldwide, 133 nursing homes and retirement centers, 329 clinics and dispensaries, 21 orphanages and children’s homes, 57 publishing houses, 28 food industries, 10 multimedia centers, and numerous radio stations around the world. In addition, the Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA) International, a highly reputable disaster and relief organization, funds over 700 projects in 131 countries helping over 11 million people.

Why should I choose a Christian education for my child?

At Forest Lake Academy, every subject is taught from a Christian perspective, integrating biblical principles and values into each aspect of our curriculum. What does the name "Seventh-day Adventist" refer to?

The name "Seventh-day Adventist" refers to two core beliefs. Respecting the fourth of God's Ten Commandments, Adventists worship on Saturday, the seventh day of the week.

Does my family have to be Adventist for my child to attend an Adventist school?

Absolutely. Our goal at Forest Lake Academy is not to isolate students from the real world, buy to equip them to be impactful witnesses for Christ in the world. Our programs---including community service, mission trips, and international travel opportunities---help students engage in a meaningful way with their community and beyond, preparing them to live out their faith and make a difference in the world.

What can I expect after my child graduates?

Research consistently shows that Christian school graduates are more engaged with their communities, more likely to be involved in church, and more committed to living their faith in practical ways. What about academics?

Forest Lake Academy is committed to academic excellence, and the school offers a balanced and rigorous college preparatory curriculum. Our students consistently perform above national averages, and nearly all graduates continue to pursue higher education. We offer a wide range of honors and Dual Enrollment courses to provide opportunities for students to excel, to be challenged, to develop their critical thinking skills, and to be prepared for career and success in life.

Can we afford private Christian education?

We understand the financial commitment required for a private Christian education. Forest Lake Academy is committed to making this opportunity available and affordable to as many families as possible. Financial aid is available for qualifying families in addition to the state of Florida’s School Choice/Step Up scholarship program that covers much of the cost. We believe the eternal impact of a Christ-centered education is worth the cost. There is not a more important investment you can ever make than choosing to invest in the life of your child.
