Bio
Raiza Fernandez earned a B.S. in Education from Southern Adventist University and later completed a master’s degree in Pastoral Ministries. She brings 29 years of teaching experience, with the last two years dedicated to FLA.
Why do you feel called to Christian Education?
I love working with young people in any setting but particularly enjoy sharing Jesus in any subject I'm teaching. I think that would be a challenge in other settings, to not be able to give God the credit for the young people's gifts, or to pray with and for them when they have concerns or requests. I am committed to know, show and lead young people to Christ.
What do you love most about working at FLA?
FLA is home. I love having been a student/graduate, teacher and administrator here. FLA is blessed. Not every Adventist academy has the opportunities and programs that we have, and that is sometimes taken for granted. The kids and staff are a pleasure to work with.
What are some activities you love to do outside of work/school?
I LOVE to travel! My 'barrel' (too big to fit in a bucket) list is always growing. I love to visit different places/people, learn about their culture, and learn about their history, food, and traditions. I also love to cook. Music is also something I value (whether listening or performing).
